Noel! Noel! with the Australian Brandenburg

Audiences describe Noël! Noël! as ‘magical’, ‘wonderful’ and ‘sublime’. This ever popular Brandenburg Christmas tradition features Paul Dyer’s divine mix of festive inspired musical delights. A dash of baroque, a splash of European and Latin American rhythms, medieval chant and much loved carols. Sacred, joyous and spectacular choral works, brought to life by the soaring voices of the Brandenburg Choir accompanied on period instruments. Advent Carol Service 2011, Sunday 27 November at 7pm

The choir have been hard at work preparing for our Advent Carol Service. Please come and bring your friends to this special service which is a wonderful introduction to cathedral worship. The choral pieces will be: Matin Responsory, Advent Responsory, E’en so Lord Jesus, quickly come, Laudes Regiae (Royal Acclamation), Es ist ein Ros‘ entsprungen, Rejoice in the Lord alway, Ave Maria (Jacob Arcadelt), Hosanna to the Son of David (Weelkes). Refreshments will be served after the service. Sunday 27 November at 7pm.

The Bishop will launch the Choir’s new CD after the conclusion of Evensong. Refreshments will be served. CDs will be available for $15 at the launch, ($20 regular price).

Cathedral Hymn Festival, Sunday 13 November at 2pm

The hymn festival is an opportunity to join the choir to sing favourite hymns and to listen to some anthems.

No entrance fee. There will be a raffle to raise funds for the Cathedral.  Tickets $2 each.

This is a lovely opportunity to bring friends to the Cathedral, especially any who are housebound or find it difficult to come to early services. Enquiries 4929 2052

Among those favourite congregational hymns will be: O praise ye the Lord; Let all the world in every corner sing; Come down, O Love divine; And can it be; Dear Lord and Father of mankind; I heard the voice; Love Divine, all loves excelling; Guide me o thou great Redeemer; Lord enthroned in heavenly splendour; Thine be the glory.
