Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth II, Sunday 3 June at 6pm

At Choral Evensong on Sunday 3 June we will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth II. Music is in keeping with this celebration and includes the anthem We wait for thy loving kindness (McKie) which was composed for the marriage of HRH Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in Westminster Abbey, 1947. The Organ postlude will be Walton’s Crown Imperial which was composed for the Coronation of King Edward VIII, and first performed at the Coronation of King George VI, used for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and performed as recessional music for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. I encourage you to attend and to make the service widely known among your friends. This will be a good occasion on which to bring visitors to experience Evensong at the cathedral.
