Welcome to the Cathedral Church of Christ the King, Newcastle - the seat ('cathedra') of the Bishop of Newcastle - a site on which people have celebrated the truths of the Christian Faith for nearly 200 years.
This great building reflects the sense of faith and hope of generations of Anglicans in the City and Diocese of Newcastle. Those who enter it today see the Cathedral restored and refurbished after the 1989 earthquake. It is a place of beauty and grandeur, built for the glory of God and the service of his people. The cathedral is a landmark in Newcastle where all people are welcome to worship, celebrate, seek comfort, and be part of a community learning to live and love together.
The worship in the Cathedral provides a wondrous expression of the beauty of Word, Sacrament and music. The teaching and preaching in the Cathedral help to identify the closeness of God with our everyday lives and needs. The Cathedral community is diverse, warm and welcoming. We see ourselves as pilgrims seeking to grow into Christ-likeness and respond to human need with loving service.
Our aim is to continue to be a space for grace in the city of Newcastle. You are warmly invited to join us as we worship the living God.
