  • Organ Recital 23 February 2013

    On Saturday, February 23 at 5:30pm, join us for an organ recital by German organist, Hans Hielscher (organist of the Lutheran Cathedral, Nassau) featuring works by Rheinberger, Rawsthorne, Salomé, and the performer’s own arrangement of Gershwin’s ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue. (Tickets $10, under 18’s free). The Cathedral houses one of Australia’s finest Cathedral organs. Join us to hear its many splendid colours in a concert environment.

  • Sunday 24 June at 2pm – ‘From Darkness into Light’ Concert

    A combined gala event by Christ Church Cathedral Choir, University Choir and Waratah Girls Choir, this concert will feature choral works exploring the theme “From Darkness to Light” and will include the song cycle “I Never Saw Another Butterfly” based on poetry written by children imprisoned at Terezin Concentration Camp, established by the SS during World War II in the Czech Republic, sung by the Waratah Girls Choir.

    The concert will also feature works sung by the combined choirs including John Taverner’s Song for Athene (made famous at the funeral of Princess Diana) and Parry’s evergreen classic “I was glad” (heard more recently at the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge).

    It is a rare event to hear three magnificent choirs in the stunning ambience of Newcastle’s Christ Church Cathedral. Don’t miss this opportunity!!

  • Handel’s Messiah 18th December 2011 at 2pm

    Christ Church Cathedral Choir and Christ Church Camerata present Handel’s most famous Oratorio, Messiah, as part of our celebration of Christmas.

    The Choir and Camerata will be joined by soloists Kim Dover (Soprano), Rose Saunders (Mezzo), Paul Morris (Tenor) and Christopher Allan (Baritone), and Directed by Peter Guy.

    Don’t miss this performance of one of the greatest choral works ever written, in the majestic setting of Newcastle’s Christ Church Cathedral.
