This morning the Dean asked the 8am and 9.30am congregations at the Cathedral to indicate to him whether they would like the Cathedral to be declared a place of Sanctuary for asylum seekers facing deportation.
Overwhelmingly, today’s worshippers at the Cathedral have said a resounding YES. There were offers of beds and food if required, along with statements of solidarity with the asylum seekers.
Fr Philip Thirlwell invites people to join him in visiting the Prime Minister’s Sydney office on Tuesday 9 Feb. to raise asylum seeker issues. You can join his train at Broadmeadow Tuesday at 7.28am.
